On April 18, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Culture Committee of the Milli Majlis and the National Library organized an event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Serhat Kabakli, a prominent Turkish writer and director of the Turkish Literature Foundation that was held at the National Library.
Director of the National Library Professor Karim Tahirov opened the event and first greeted the participants. He said that today we gathered at the National Library for a very nice event - the light of Serhat Kabakli. Serhat Kabaklı is a well-known person among the writers of the Turkish world. During his speech, the director emphasized that as early as 2019, within the framework of the "Year of Nasimi", we held very grand events organized by Serhat Bey at the Turkish Literature Foundation together with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the National Library, TURKSOY. He noted that Serhat Kabakli is a person who has very important services in the promotion of Azerbaijani literature. Serhat is the successor of the Kabakli family generation, which is well-known and respected in Turkey. K. Tahirov said I believe that the friendship of our literature will be permanent, just like the unity and friendship of our countries. At the end of his speech, he congratulated director Serhat Kabakli on his anniversary, wished him good health and creative success, and expressed his gratitude to Ms. Ganira Pashaeva, who made the proposal to hold this event at the National Library.
MP of the Milli Majlis, chairman of the Culture Committee, member of the working group on Azerbaijan-Turkey inter-parliamentary relations Ganira Pashayeva said that Serhat Kabakli is the big brother of the entire Turkic world. He is a Turkish poet who is belong to the Motherland. She emphasized that Serhat Bey is originally from Azerbaijan, a worthy successor of the famous Ahmed Kabakli. Ms. Ganira said during her speech that Serhat Kabakli has important services not only in the literature of Turkey, but also in the literature of the Turkic world. She said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Turkish literature journal. Today we celebrate the 70th anniversary of Serhat Kabakli, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Turkish literature journal. Then she recited a part of Serhat Kabakli's poem "Know my son" and emphasized that "... we have crushed our enemy, we are also walking in Karabakh!" Referring to that poem, she expressed her gratitude to brotherly Turkey, which constantly supported Azerbaijan in the 44-day Second Karabakh War, and emphasized that we are one nation and two states. During her speech, she informed the participants that an article about Shusha and a great book about Shusha will be published recently in the Turkish literature journal. In the end, she congratulated Serhat Kabakli on his 70th anniversary and conveyed her best wishes to him.
Parliament member, People's Poet Sabir Rustamkhanli gave a speech and first of all greeted all the guests from Turkey, headed by Serhat Bey. He said that it is very gratifying that the 70th anniversary of Serhat Kabakli will be held in the National Library. The anniversaries of many of our writers, as well as numerous book presentations, were held not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Turkey. Journal of Turkish Literature is not only a journal of Turkey, but also of the entire Turkic world. During his speech, Sabir Rustamkhanli brought to the attention of the participants that Serhat Kabakli's two poetry books were published and said that the masterpiece of his creativity is the poem "Know My Son". At the end of the speech, Serhat congratulated Kabakli on his jubilee and presented him with a portrait of "Baku landscape".
Rashad Majid, deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, editor-in-chief of "525-ci Gazet" spoke and expressed his gratitude to Ms. Ganira Pashaeva for her services in holding the anniversary of Serhat Kabakli in Baku. He noted that this event is a gratitude for the work done by Serhat Kabakly. He said that we have held many events together with Mr. Serhat in recent years. We can attribute to this the translation of Ahmed Kabakli's work into Azerbaijani, as well as the holding of the anniversary of the People's Writer Anar at the Turkish Literature Foundation. During that event, People's writer Anar was awarded the "Yasayan Dede Gorgud" award for the first time, and later Sabir Rustamkhanli, Isa Habibbeyli, and Kamal Abdulla were presented with the same award. All these are indicators of attention and concern for Azerbaijani literature.
In the continuation of the event, Firangiz Balakishiyeva, chairman of "Breath" Public Union, Arzu Bagirova, chairman of "Regional Legal and Economic Education" Public Union, and Turkish writer Imdad Avshar spoke and wished new creative successes to the jubilee.
At the end, various gifts were presented to the jubilee and a commemorative photo was taken. In turn, the director of the Turkish Literature Foundation, Serhat Kabakli, a prominent Turkish writer, spoke and expressed his gratitude to the organization of the event and to everyone who spoke.
