A book exhibition “Professor Tofig Mustafazade” has opened at the National Library

Today is the 75th anniversary since the birth of the renowned historian, Honored Scientist, Professor Tofig Mustafazade.

Tofig Teyyub oglu Mustafazade was born on June 1, 1949, in the village of Zeyva in the Davachi district (nowadays Shabran district) of the Azerbaijan Republic. After completing secondary school in 1966, he entered the History Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University) and graduated with distinction in 1971. In 1980, he defended his candidate dissertation, followed by his doctoral dissertation in 1992, and in 1999 he was awarded the title of professor.

Scientific and research activities of Professor Tofig Mustafazade are multifaceted.

He wrote the "General History" book, which consists of four volumes, for the first time in the country. From 2009 to 2011, he expanded and reissued the book in two volumes.

He is the author of numerous scholarly works such as "Ottoman-Azerbaijani relations in the early 18th-19th centuries", "From the “Armenian issue” to armenian terrorism", "The Karabakh Khanate and its international relations", "The Quba Khanate", "Azerbaijani-Russian relations: second half of the 18th century-early 19th century", "International relations and the diplomacy of Nader Shah Afshar in the Caspian region in the second half of the 18th century", "Azerbaijan and Russian-Turkish relations in the first third of the 18th century", and many others.

On May 25, 2012, Tofig Mustafazade was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in 2015, he was honored with the title "Honored Scientist."

In celebration of Professor Tofig Mustafazade's birthday, the National Library has opened a comprehensive book exhibition titled "Professor Tofig Mustafazade." The exhibition showcases his works, scientific activities, and creative achievements, featuring literature in Azerbaijani and Russian languages.

The exhibition will continue for one week.
