Ieva Majore, the charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Azerbaijan, had been at the National Library on July 7. Director of the Azerbaijan National Library professor Karim Tahirov greeted the guest.

Mrs. I.Majore talked about the National Library of Latvia, its old and new buildings, location, structure, and process in the library. Although K.Tairov had not seen the new building of the National Library of Latvia, he said that he got acquainted with the project of the National Library when he was in Riga in 2007. During the meeting, he spoke about the close relations between the national libraries of the two countries, and exchange of books. Mrs. I.Majore had been interested in the automation process, digitalizing of documents, and mass events in the Azerbaijan National Library.

The charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Azerbaijan donated books in latvian, russian, and english related with the history, literature, culture of Latvia, and DVD discs of Latvian films to the Azerbaijan National Library. Kerim Tahirov presented books like Azerbaijan National Library, Azerbaijan map photo album, Azerbaijan cuisine, and Azerbaijan literature (in english) to the guest.
