On May 30-31, the 30th CENL AGM was held in Vienna, the capitol of Austria. Nearly 40 directors of the European National Libraries participated in the event that held in the Austrian National Library. In 2013, at the CENL AGM held in Baku, there were participated representatives of 41 countries, at the meeting held in 2014, in Moscow representatives from 22 countries took part and representatives from 36 countries participated at the meeting held in 2015, in Bern. Director of the Azerbaijan National Library professor Karim Tahirov and the employee of the Foreign literature and international book exchange department Khanpari Jafarova represent our country at this prestigious event in the current year.
On May 30, Director General of the Austrian National Library Mrs. Johanna Rachinger greeted the participants of the event and expressed her satisfaction with the conduct of the meeting in the Austrian National Library.
Andrea Ecker, Director General of the Division for Arts and Culture, Austrian Federal Chancellery greeted the participants of the event.
Roly Keating, the CENL President continued the meeting with his speech. Then the Agenda of the event was approved. The minutes of the 29th CENL Annual General Meeting in Bern and. matters arising from the minutes were discussed, CENL Annual Report June 2015-May 2016 was reported, and it was noted once again that the CENL secretariat was transferred from the National Library of France to the British library.
A presentation by the Task and Finish Group was presented by Caroline Brazier for discussion. Treasurer’s Report: Financial Report 2015, budget 2016, proposed budget and action plan for 2017 by CENL Treasurer Caroline Brazier, revised CENL membership fee model for voting, changing of statutes regarding non-payment of fees for 12 months, proposal on recruitment of additional Executive Committee member were discussed. After the break, the ballot results were announced and the issues were considered to be in favor.
After the lunch, the meeting continued its work with network sessions, the changing role of national, public and other libraries was discussed.
Aslak Sira Myhre spoke about the current strategies and purposes of the National Library of Norway.
