March 8 is the day of international solidarity of women in the struggle for economic, social and political equality. The history of the women's movement began in 1857 in New York when women protested against the 12-hour work day. In 1910, the German socialist woman Clara Setkin managed to celebrate March 8 as International Women's Day. In 1977, the United Nations officially declared this day as Women's Day.
March 8 - International Women's Day is also widely celebrated in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani woman has always held the name of our nation high with her intelligence, wisdom, loyalty, heroism, loyalty, high quality of motherhood. Our women have played a great role in the formation and development of the moral values of our people, who have given rare pearls to the treasure of world culture. At the same time, Azerbaijani women have made significant contributions to solving the fateful issues of our nation in all periods of our history. The names of many of them are written in golden letters on the pages of our centuries-old history.
On the occasion of March 8 - International Women's Day, a virtual exhibition of the same name was prepared by the employees of the National Library.
In the virtual exhibition, famous women who left a mark and played an important role in the social and political life of modern Azerbaijan, literature on their life and creativity, books written about mothers, women, articles and photos published in periodical press pages are displayed.
