For more than a century, the Azerbaijan National Library, as the temple of our national heritage, science, education, and culture, has been serving the people.

The National Library implements the state policy in the field of library affairs in the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is the national cultural treasury and state repository that collects and preserves national publications, works by Azerbaijani authors published abroad, as well as globally significant publications and other information carriers.

The Library was established in 1922, and its official opening took place on May 23, 1923. In 1939, the library was named after the thinker, playwright, and educator Mirza Fatali Akhundov. In 2004, by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the status of "National Library" was granted to the library, which is the highest recognition given to the activities of the National Library.

On the occasion of today at the National Library, a traditional book exhibition titled "May 23 - the Day of the Establishment of the Azerbaijan National Library" has been presented to users.

The exhibition presents bibliographies published in the series "Outstanding individuals of Azerbaijan" by the National Library, publications in the "Barpanashr" series, music notes printed in the series "From Our National Music Treasury: From the Fund of the Azerbaijan National Library", and other publications.

The exhibition will continue for 1 week.
