January 20 is a day of sorrow and honor for the people of Azerbaijan. Our people should not only mourn their daughters and sons innocently killed in this tragedy, but also be proud of their martyrs. Because the Motherland rises thanks to the courage and heroism of martyrs. 32 years ago, the Azerbaijani people experienced terrible days. Our people were attacked by the Red Army and Soviet military vehicles, innocent people were brutally killed. The tragedy of January 20 was a part of a nefarious plan aimed at intimidating the Azerbaijani people, destroying their national awakening and self-consciousness and breaking their will in the struggle for their native land. We must not forget that January 20 is not only a day of sorrow and sadness, but also a day of heroism and honor for the Azerbaijani people.

In connection with the 32nd anniversary of the 20 January tragedy, a virtual exhibition entitled “20 January” has been prepared by the staff of the National Library of Azerbaijan. The virtual exhibition features statements by prominent figures of Azerbaijan about "Bloody January", photos, books and articles on the topic.
