On February 26, the opening ceremony of the traditional book exhibition “Khojaly Genocide of the 20th Century” was held at the National Library on the occasion of the thirty-third anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
First, the souls of the victims and martyrs of the Khojaly tragedy were commemorated with a minute of silence.
Speaking, Deputy Director of the National Library, Adiba Ismayilova, said that the Khojaly genocide is one of the most catastrophic, most terrible and sad pages in the history of Azerbaijan. While the Khojaly genocide committed by Armenians is, on the one hand, a war crime, on the other hand, it is a mass act of terrorism committed against the civilian population. The Azerbaijani people have never forgotten and will never forget the Khojaly tragedy. On the eve of each anniversary, the National Library holds visual events, extensive book exhibitions, electronic databases and virtual exhibitions, as well as book presentations.Noting the large-scale work carried out by our state to convey and promote the truth about the Khojaly genocide to the world community, the deputy director provided information about the electronic database dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide prepared by the employees of the National Library.
It should be noted that the electronic database “Tragedy of the 20th Century – Khojaly Genocide” prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan consists of the following sections: “Official Documents”; “Khojaly District”, “National Heroes of Khojaly”, “About the Genocide”, “Khojaly Martyrs”, “What Witnesses Said”, “Confessions from Armenians”, “Monuments Destroyed by Armenians”, “Justice for Khojaly Campaign”, “Recognition of the Khojaly Genocide”, “Khojaly Genocide in Culture”, “Photo Gallery” and “Video Gallery”.

The traditional book exhibition titled “Khojaly Genocide of the 20th Century” showcases literature in Azerbaijani and foreign languages about the Khojaly genocide, the bloody consequences of the Armenian aggression, the mass massacres and atrocities committed in the Khojaly settlement, the people who were martyred in Khojaly and those who were captured and disappeared by the Armenians, the fate of the residents of Khojaly, and Armenian vandalism.
