People's writer Ismayil Shikhli is an outstanding writer, scientist-pedagogue, literary critic who entered the history of Azerbaijani literature not only with his voluminous works, but also with his stories, publicist and critical, literary processes, articles and speeches, textbooks and translations. He is one of the writers who are constantly remembered, read the most, attract the attention of local and foreign readers, and whose works are translated into the languages of various nations.
Although Ismayil Shikhli came to literature with poetry, he only found himself in prose and gained fame as the most prominent representative of prose in our modern literature. The writer's "Waters of Kerch", "Dağlar səslənir - Mountains sound", "Dashkasan", " Ayrılan Yollar - Seperated ways", " Dəli Kür - Turbulent Kura", "Ölən Dünyam - My dying world" and other works won the love of literature.
The novel "Dali Kura" is considered one of the masterpieces of our prose and reveals what the writer's talent is capable of and its level.
Ismayil Shikhli was born on March 22, 1919 in the village of Ikinki Shikhli, Gazakh district, in the family of a teacher. This year marks the 105th anniversary of his birth.
On this occasion, a large book exhibition called "People's Writer Ismayil Shikhli" was opened in the National Library about the writer's life, activities and creativity.
The exhibition presents the writer's works, translations from world literature, books compiled and edited by him, literature written about Azerbaijan and in different languages.
