Conference on “Multiculturalism and book” and presentation ceremony of the first edition of “Multiculturalism” journal was held in the National Library, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Knowledge Foundation and Azerbaijan National Library, on June 23.

Director of the National Library professor Karim Tahirov opened the event. He welcomed the participants of the event and noted that the event was held in accordance with the paragraph 21 of “Action Plan” on the announcement of “Multiculturalism year” in Azerbaijan Republic approved by the order of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated 11 March 2016, and added that comprehensive measures would be held in regions, he also mentioned that multiculturalism was the best model of traditional policy of Azerbaijan.

In the second part of the conference, reports were presented. In their speeches, Ramila Gurbali – leading consultant of the Information provision sector of the Knowledge Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Reyhan Yusifgizi – employee of the Knowledge Fund, Nariman Gasimzadeh – head of the Analytical department of the Multiculturalism Center, Adile Abdullayeva – head of the Department at the National Library, Zahire Dadashova – Deputy director of the Children library named after F.Kocharli, Aliyusif Mammadov – employee of the Presidential library of the Presidential Library of the Administrative Department of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Munavvar Mammadova – associate professor of the Military Academy, candidate of philological sciences, Rahim Majnunov – teacher of the Police Academy, Sevil Aliyeva – bibliographer of the Funds formation department of the Central Scientific Library of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and others spoke about multiculturalism and library work.

In their speeches, Nizami Jafarov – Head of the Ataturk Center, Member of Parliament, Nariman Gasimzadeh – Head of the Analytical Department of Baku International Multiculturalism Center, Rashad Majid – secretary of the Writers’ Union, editor of the newspaper 525, Sardar Farajov – secretary of the Composers’ Union, honored art worker, Fakhri Ughurlu – editor-in-chief of the literary-artistic, scientific-journalistic magazine “Multiculturalism”, Sadagat Karimova – writer-publicist and others said that Azerbaijan attracted the whole world attention with multiculturalism traditions. Multiculturalism is the essence of Azerbaijani culture.
