This year, March 21 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikayil Azafli, a prominent representative of Azerbaijani ashiq art, master ashiq and poet.

Mikayil Azafli was born in 1924 in the village of Azafli, Tovuz region, where he wrote and created.

Mikayil Azafli was a master ashiq who wrote and created with great enthusiasm, developed the art of ashiq, and became a classic during his lifetime. He was distinguished not only by his perfect knowledge of the art of love, but also by his poetic nature. The lover-poet, who wrote poems under the pseudonyms "Solğun- Faded" and "Coşgun - Exuberant" in his early years, soon took the name of his native village as a pseudonym.
