On December 8, the presentation of the book "Selected Poems" by Mehmed Akif Ersoy, one of the great poets of Turkish literature, and the presentation of TURKSOY's "Honor" and "30th Anniversary of TURKSOY" medals to outstanding cultural and artistic figures of Azerbaijan were held in the National Library of Azerbaijan.

Director of the National Library, Karim Tahirov, who opened the event by greeting the guests, noted that the National Library and the TURKSOY organization have been cooperating for 15 years, and have implemented events related to the creativity of prominent people. He said that Mehmed Akif Ersoy's book was translated into Azerbaijani for the first time, and that the book will create a basis for more recognition of the poet's creativity.

General Secretary of TURKSOY Sultan Rayev emphasized that the Mehmed Akif Ersoy is one of the poets who left deep traces in the soul of the nation and is among the national poets of the Turkic world. The speaker also drew attention to the fact that 2023 was declared the year of Mehmed Akif Ersoy in the Turkish World by the decision of the International Organization of Turkish Culture - TURKSOY Standing Council on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mehmed Akif Ersoy.

In his speech, Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, celebrated the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY as a significant event. He emphasized that TURKSOY does important work for the Turkish people living in different geographies but coming from the same ancestry. Also, the deputy minister spoke about the announcement of the city of Shusha as the "cultural capital of the Turkic world" for 2023 and the Turkic world cultural form held for the first time.

People's poet Anar, Culture and Publicity Adviser of Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan Muhittin Majit, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Writers' Union Rashad Majid, Honored Scientist Gazanfar Pashayev took part in the speeches of the presented book, which contains the poet's rich language, deep thought, emotional depth, the history and culture of the Turkish nation. They said that it is an important document that reflects his spirit, that Azerbaijan-Turkey cultural relations are developing rapidly, that Mehmed Akif Ersoy is an Islamic poet and a poet of the Fatherland.

In the end, TURKSOY's "Honor" and "30th anniversary of TURKSOY" medals were presented to outstanding cultural and artistic figures of Azerbaijan in connection with TURKSOY's 30th anniversary.
