On November 13, a presentation ceremony for the virtual and traditional book exhibitions on the theme "Green World Solidarity Year" was held at the National Library. This event was organized in accordance with the implementation of the tasks arising from the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding the declaration of 2024 as the "Green World Solidarity Year" and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan's action plan related to COP29.

The event was opened by the Director of the National Library, Professor Karim Tahirov, who noted that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, signed a decree on December 25, 2023, declaring 2024 as the "Green World Solidarity Year" in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that the purpose of all the events held today is related to the "Green World Solidarity Year". He also highlighted the importance of the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change's Conference of the Parties (COP29) being held in Azerbaijan, discussing the reduction of the negative impacts of climate change, biodiversity conservation and the efficient use of natural resources. He mentioned that one of the main tasks of the National Library is to support this initiative by preparing bibliographies, electronic databases and virtual and traditional book exhibitions.

Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs and Library-Information Service of the National Library of Azerbaijan, PhD in Sciences, Adiba Ismailova, congratulated everyone on the occasion of the "Green World Solidarity Year." She noted that the hosting of a prestigious event like COP29 in Azerbaijan is a historic event.

Following the opening speeches, the "Green World Solidarity Year" virtual exhibition dedicated to the topic of "Climate Change" was presented.

It should be noted that the virtual exhibition features articles and literature in both Azerbaijani and foreign languages on various topics such as the "Green World Solidarity Year," the COP29 International Conference, the successful environmental policy of President Ilham Aliyev, green economy, green development, ecology and sustainable development, protection of ecology and contemporary environmental challenges.

At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to explore an extensive traditional book exhibition dedicated to the "Green World Solidarity Year."

The traditional exhibition displayed books and photographs in both Azerbaijani and foreign languages on various topics such as environmental protection, efficient use of water resources, conservation of the Caspian Sea's ecological environment, waste management, atmospheric air protection, the development of ecotourism and aquaculture, protection and expansion of forest cover and greenery, rehabilitation of polluted areas, improving soil fertility and more.
