Azerbaijani delegation participating in the Qatar International Book Fair visited the Qatar National Library, one of the most modern libraries in the world. Director of Azerbaijan National Library Prof. Karim Tahirov; Head of Book Industry Department of the Ministry of Culture, Ph.D. in History Akif Marifli; Translator into Arabic, Ph.D. in Philology Ahmad Sami; Director of “Tahsil” Publishing House Tural Akhundov; and Director of “Chinar publications” Publishing House Bahram Orujlu got acquainted reading rooms of the library, its book collections and museum of rare books and manuscripts. The manuscript of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi’s poem "Leyli and Majnun" copied in 1529 and other book collections preserved in the library museum aroused great interest among visitors. Under the terms of the agreement signed between the Qatar National Library and the Azerbaijan National Library four years ago, the two national libraries will soon create and exchange electronic copies of ancient books and manuscripts. The book fair in Doha will last for 10 days – until January 22.
