Today is the 100th anniversary of the prominent representative of Azerbaijani children's literature, poet, publicist, translator, public figure the Teymur Elchin (Teymur Süleyman oglu Aliyev). He was born on March 28, 1924 in Shusha.

Teymur Elchin has made great contribution to the enrichment of Azerbaijani children's literature.

The poet, who dedicated his literary creativity entirely to children, wrote "Qar qız - Snow Maiden", " Qulaq asın, danışım  - Listen, I'm Talking", " Bahar, adlar, uşaqlar  - Spring, Names, Children", " Sözlər, nəğmələr, nağıllar, laylalar  - Words, Songs, Fairy Tales, Lullabies", " Laylalar  - Lullabies", " Şəkərim, duzum  - My honey, My Salt", " Torağayın nəğməsi  - Song of Toragai". ", " Babalar, nənələr, nəvələr  - Grandfathers, grandmothers, grandchildren", " Kirpinin laylası - Hedgehog's lullaby", " Turacın laylası - Turaj's lullaby", "Siçan balası - Mouse cub" etc. In his poems, a thousand aspects of children's world are reflected.

Fikret Amirov, Tofig Guliyev, Rauf Hajiyev, Ashraf Abbasov, Suleyman Alasgarov, Ogtay Zulfugarov, Ogtay Rajabov and other composers composed many songs for his poems.

Teymur Elchin also had special services in the field of literary translation. His translations of the works of I.V. Turgenev, S. Marshak, K. Chukovsky, P. Voronko, Y. Raynis and others are among the works most loved and read by Azerbaijani readers as the most beautiful examples of our Azerbaijani classical translation heritage.

As a public figure, Teymur Elchin has also made great contributions to the development of Azerbaijani culture. He worked for a long time in the managemet of the State Radio and Television Committee and the Ministry of Culture and showed great organizational activity in this field.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Teymur Elchin, a prominent representative of our children's literature, the National Library of Azerbaijan prepared a virtual and traditional exhibition of the same name, "A prominent representative of Azerbaijani children's literature: Teymur Elchin -100".
