Azerbaijan's relations with the Turkic states of Central Asia have always been extensive. Relations with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan are not only rich in content, but also unique. The main reason for this is that we share common national and moral values with the peoples of these countries. Continuous development of cooperation with all Turkish states is one of the priority areas of the foreign policy of our republic.

The common cultural heritage and common history uniting the Turkic-speaking peoples always has a positive effect on interstate relations. Azerbaijan has a very successful history of cooperation with Turkic-speaking countries of similar origin. This was also confirmed by the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov to Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan were established on January 19, 1993. However, these relations were not characterized by their intensity at first. On April 1, 2002, Kyrgyzstan appointed Honorary Consul in Azerbaijan. On May 16, 2007, the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan was opened in Kyrgyzstan, and on January 18, 2008, Kyrgyzstan appointed a new ambassador to Azerbaijan. In the first years of independence, Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan relations, as with other Turkic states of Central Asia, were mainly carried out within the framework of cooperation in the work of international and regional organizations. National leader Heydar Aliyev made invaluable contributions to the expansion of bilateral relations.

Azerbaijan is a very important partner of Kyrgyzstan. This partnership covers many areas. The foundation of these relations was laid by the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and is being successfully developed by President Ilham Aliyev.

The documents signed during the visit are comprehensive in terms of content and show that both sides are interested in further development of relations. The official visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan is very important. Ten documents were signed with Azerbaijan as a friendly and brotherly country. "Agreement on air communication between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic" was signed by the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev and the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic Erkinbek Osoyev, Memorandum on understanding and cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection between the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Agency for Intellectual Property and Innovation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev, The "Memorandum of Agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic" was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev.

In the framework of this cooperation, which is considered a high level of mutual activity, issues related to the bilateral agenda, as well as regional and international problems, were regularly discussed in a more effective and active manner. Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan cooperate in all international organizations and always support each other based on national interests.

The issues discussed at the official meeting of the heads of state and the documents signed gave an impetus to the development of relations in the next stage. The acknowledgments of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan to the press, the documents signed during the visit, especially the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, which is the most important document, show that Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz relations have reached a qualitatively new level, and brotherly and friendly relations between the countries will be further strengthened.

Within the framework of the visit, Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Aygul Japarova, the First Lady of the Kyrgyz Republic. Aygul Japarova visited the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, the guest was informed about the ancient art of carpet weaving, its history and traditions. At the same time, the first lady of the Kyrgyz Republic got acquainted with Icherisheher, the guest was given detailed information about the "Icherisheher" State Historical-Architectural Reserve, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as the repair, improvement and restoration works carried out here.

The existence of similar history and culture between the two countries is another value that strengthens relations. Cultural relations between these nations are developing. Back in 2000, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Akayev participated in the ceremony of the 1300th anniversary of the "Kitabi-Dada Gorgud" epic. In the autumn of 2000, the Azerbaijani delegation participated in the 3000th anniversary of the dawn of Osh in Kyrgyzstan, and in 2001, E. Abdukarimov, the committee chairman of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Kyrgyzstan, visited Baku to participate in the XV meeting of the Standing Council of TURKSOY. The film "Birds of Paradise" jointly produced by Kyrgyz and Kazakh cinematographers was screened at the "East-West" film festival held in Baku in 2006.

In 2008, a number of solemn events were held in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov. President Ilham Aliyev awarded Ch. Aitmatov with the "Friendship" order for his services in strengthening mutual relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz poet Egemberdi Ermatov translated our great poet Nizami Ganjavi's work "Seven Beauties" into Kyrgyz language, "Salam" publishing house in Bishkek published the book "Azerbaijanis in Kyrgyzstan" in Russian.
