On October 11, there was held presentation ceremony of the book “Samed Vurgun. Bibliography” published from the series of “Azerbaijan’s great personalities” by Azerbaijan National Library, and “Azerbaijan’s National poet Samed Vurgun” e-database, in the National Library.
Opening the event, director of the National Library professor Karim Tahirov talked a lot about the prominent personality Samed Vurgun, his activities and rich heritage. He also spoke of the works of the poet which had been translated into different languages of the world, the works translated by him and fundamental bibliography that reflecting the whole life of the poet, and added that the resource had been compiled for wide readership.
Director of Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, Member of Parliament, and associate member of ANAS Nizami Jafarov gave detailed information about life and work of the poet.
Speakers Shirindil Alishanli – head of the Department in ANAS Manuscripts Institute named after Nizami, doctor of philology, Adilkhan Bayramov – deputy director of scientific methodical centre for cultural studies, literary critic, doctor of philology, Anvar Ahmad – professor, Gurban Bayramov – literary critic, Ph.D. in philology, Shamistan Nazirli – publicist, prose-writer, Aslan Salmansoy – Ph.D. in philology and others said with confidence that the bibliography was the result of long searches and hard work, and that it would help scientific workers and specialists in the study of the heritage of Samed Vurgun, his literary and artistic activity, and expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the creation of that publication.
Presenting the electronic database “Azerbaijan’s National poet Samed vurgun” to the participants, the head of Creation Electronic Resources Department Rubaba Safarova gave detailed information about the database, and noted that rich information about life and work of the poet, his works, and thoughts of outstanding personalities said about Samed Vurgun were collected on the database.
In the end, the participants of the event closely viewed the exhibition named “Samed Vurgun – 110” about life and work of the prominent poet.
