February 14 is International Book Giving Day. This day is celebrated in many countries of the world and unites all people who donate books to children and create love for books in them. In this regard, an event called "February 14 - International Book Giving Day" was held at the National Library of Azerbaijan.

At the event, the 2b grade students and the teacher of the secondary school No. 189-190 were guests of the National Library and celebrated the "International Book Giving Day". An excursion to the National Library was organized for the students.

Opening the event with an introduction, the director of the National Library, prof. Karim Tahirov greeted everyone and congratulated schoolchildren on the occasion of "International Book Giving Day" and said that this holiday creates love for books in the young generation and is of great importance in the formation of reading culture. During his speech, prof.  Karim Tahirov also mentioned how important reading is in the development of the outlook of children, who are the builders of our future. He invited the children to read books, to study our history, culture, and literature. The professor also noted that donating books means beautifying the future, opening the horizons of the new generation, and living in a more beautiful country. From this point of view, it is gratifying to have readers who treat the book with great love and care.

The director said that the best example of how life flourishes through reading and how one becomes a genius is National leader Heydar Aliyev, and emphasizing the Great Leader's opinion that "I owe everything I have gained in life to these books", he said that the way to become a great person is only through reading books.

Adiba Ismayilova, the deputy director of the library, Doctor of Philosophy in History, congratulated the children on this day and noted that books are a source of knowledge, all prominent personalities became famous by reading books, and I think you also like reading books, because you came here on the Book Day, and we, as the National Library, each of us are always with you.

Then, the director of the National Library presented books to the students on the occasion of "International Book Giving Day".

On behalf of the students who were satisfied with the excursion and the event organized here, teacher Nargiz thanked the management of the National Library and wished them success.

In the end, poems were recited by schoolchildren in connection with "International Book Donation Day".
