On December 12, an event was held in the National Library on the occasion of the Memorial Day of National leader Heydar Aliyev. Director of the National Library, professor Karim Tahirov opened the event and greeted the participants. The director said that on December 12, 19 years have passed since the death of Heydar Aliyev, the founder and architect of Independent Azerbaijan, an outstanding statesman, the savior of our people. The director emphasized that the Great Leader's coming to power created peace and stability in our country, put an end to chaos, and the construction phase began.

The speaker spoke about the honorable life path of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, who went down in history as the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, a genius politician and a great personality, his services to the Motherland and the worthy leadership of Azerbaijan during the period of its independence, and he also paid great attention to the development of Azerbaijani culture and the preservation of our cultural resources and their transmission to future generations and noted his concern. He emphasized that our great leader came to the National Library 4 times in the first years of his leadership of Azerbaijan for the second time - that is, in 1995-1997, he was interested in the problems of the library and instructed to take measures to enrich the funds of this temple of culture, which is experiencing serious difficulties.

He said that under the leadership of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, who is a worthy follower of the political line defined by national leader Heydar Aliyev, and with the participation of the victorious Azerbaijani army, our lands that were under occupation for nearly 30 years were freed from the enemy and as a result of his successful domestic and foreign policy, Azerbaijan is today in the region has become a leading country.

The director said that the National Library has duly fulfilled its duties in the direction of promoting the legacy of the mighty personality who successfully brought his people out of the complex historical and political trials of the time and brought them to independence through consistent struggle. Finally, the director emphasized that the people of Azerbaijan, as long as the Independent State of Azerbaijan stands and lives, the Great Leader His dear memory will always be remembered and never forgotten.

Deputy Director, Doctor of Philosophy in History Adiba Ismayilova made a speech and said that December 12, our esteemed nation, is a day of great gratitude to the great leader Heydar Aliyev, who forever engraved his name in history, who was a brilliant political figure, whose life and activity became a source of pride for every Azerbaijani citizen, notes with the years he led our country, which entered our history as a period of renaissance, national progress, national awakening, independent state building, the great leader constantly worked to move the country forward.

The deputy director noted that, as we know, May 10, 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, an outstanding political and statesman, and by the order of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev dated September 29, 2022, 2023- 2018 was declared "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in Azerbaijan, and the National Library of Azerbaijan plans to implement numerous projects as a contribution.

Later, the participants of the event inspected the organized exhibition. In the exhibition, books, documents and photos reflecting different periods of the life of the genius preserved in the library's funds were displayed.

In the end, the memory of the eldest son of our nation was commemorated once again in the corner dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the National Library.
