The family is an important social institution that shapes individual identity and society. The development of society primarily depends on the stability, well-being, and organization of family relationships based on high moral and spiritual values. Therefore, society always strives to build and develop on a solid foundation of family.

As the National Leader Heydar Aliyev stated, "Family values, family traditions, loyalty to our national and spiritual values, and the modern upbringing of children are of great importance". During his leadership, great attention was given to the formation of family policy, and purposeful measures were taken to address the social problems of families. A rich legal framework regulating family relations was created. The Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan recognizes the family as the foundation of society and declares it under the protection of the state. This guarantees the protection of the family, its social structure, and its reputation.

One of the main documents regulating family relations in Azerbaijan is the Family Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, adopted in 1999. This document defines the rights and duties of the participants in family relations and ensures the formation and strengthening of family relations.

Today, the family policy, initiated by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, is successfully continued under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Purposeful and consistent measures are being implemented by the state to build families on solid foundations and to protect and defend this social institution.

At the National Library, the virtual exhibition titled “The Family is a Small State!” has been presented online to users in order to strengthen family relations, preserve family values, raise awareness about the role of parents in the formation of children’s personalities, and promote these ideas.

The virtual exhibition showcases literature and articles in various languages on topics such as the Family Code, Family Law, Azerbaijani Family, the Model of a Healthy Family, Protection of Family Values and Priorities in State Policy, Family Environment, Parent-Child Relations, Causes and Solutions to Family Conflicts, the Role of Traditions in the Formation of the Family Institution, and more.
