On 5th of November, an event dedicated to "November 8 - Victory Day" was held in the National Library.

First, the dear memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Director of the National Library Professor Karim Tahirov opened the event and said that many events are being held in our country these days on the eve of the anniversary of our historical Victory. November 8 is a very important day for Azerbaijan - the Victory Day. The historic day when we reunited with Karabakh is the Great Victory Day! A few days ago, as the National Library, we held an event dedicated to the scientific discussion of the book "History of the Patriotic War - Personality Factor" devoted to the anniversary of our historical Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War. He noted that the Victorious Army of Azerbaijan made the impossible possible in just 44 days under the leadership of the Supreme Commander! The director emphasized that as a result of military operations lasting 44 days,  our lands which were under occupation for nearly 30 years, were liberated from the enemy by the brave Azerbaijani Army. With this Victory, Azerbaijan wrote its name in golden letters not only in the country's military history, but also in the world's military history. He stressed that no victory or freedom ends without bloodshed. Unfortunately, many of our brave children were martyred in our victorious war. We will never forget their dear memory.  The director said that we achieved the Great Victory as a result of President Ilham Aliyev's principled and invincible will, resolutely defending the national interests of the Azerbaijani people, and pursuing a purposeful and consistent policy. Many books have been written and will be written about this historical Victory of ours, and it is our duty to promote those books.

At the end of his speech, K. Tahirov noted that, as Mr. President Ilham Aliyev also stated: “Today, the people of Azerbaijan live as a victorious nation, and the state of Azerbaijan lives as a victorious state. We will continue to live as a victorious country, a victorious nation, and we will rebuild and restore the liberated lands. Life is returning to those lands, people are returning. Today, it is our main task to ensure this return in the shortest possible time”.

Adiba Ismayilova, deputy director for scientific affairs and library-information service of the National Library, Head of "Khagani 57" territorial party organization of the New Azerbaijan Party of the Sabail district said that November 8 is a significant event for the people of Azerbaijan. On that date, we have won the historical Victory that we have been waiting for many years.The deputy director noted  Glorious Victory which was won in the Patriotic War is the brightest page of our rich history, our chronicle of heroism that will always be proud by the present and future generations. At the end of his speech, he said that the people of Azerbaijan are a happy nation because they have a National Leader like Heydar Aliyev and a Commander-in-Chief like Ilham Aliyev.

In the continuation of the event, Sayyara Mammadli, the head of the library's information-search systems department, recited her poem dedicated to Victory Day.

At the end, the participants got acquainted with the traditional book exhibition that named  "Happy Victory Day Azerbaijan!". In the exhibition, books, articles and other materials preserved in the fund of the National Library, which includes the history of the Second Karabakh War, which lasted for 44 days, were displayed.
