On September 29, within the framework of the V Baku International Book Fair, there had been organized an international scientific conference on the theme of “New challenges, new ideas, new requirements for libraries: book, reading, innovations”, presentation of “Molla Panah Vagif in the world languages” book published by TURKSOY and Azerbaijan National Library, and signing ceremony of Memorandums between the Azerbaijan National Library and the National Library of Russia and between the Azerbaijan National Library and the National Library and Archives of Egypt.
Opening the event, director of the National Library professor Karim Tahirov expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for participating in the V Baku International Book Fair and in the international scientific conference.
First Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vagif Aliyev welcomed the participants of the conference, and spoke about the invaluable contributions of those international conferences in sharing experiences. Speaking about the importance of establishing and strengthening cultural relations, Deputy Minister noted the contributions of the national library in this field.
There was held signing ceremony of Memorandums between the Azerbaijan National Library and the National Library of Russia and between the Azerbaijan National Library and the National Library and Archives of Egypt, director of the National Library of Russia Alexander Visliy and the chairman of the National Library and Archives of Egypt Ahmad Al-Shoky highlighted the importance of further expansion of cooperation between the national libraries, book exchange, and organizing joint book exhibitions and conferences. In the presentation ceremony of “Molla Panah Vagif in the world languages” book published by Azerbaijan National Library and TURKSOY, the representative of Azerbaijan in TURKSOY Elchin Gafarli reached out greetings from Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen Kasseinov to the participants of the event. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to publishing the book, and presented the awards of TURKSOY.
The author of foreword, vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli noted that 2017 has been declared as the year of Molla Panah Vagif by UNESCO, and by TURKSOY in the Turkic world, he also spoke about the poet.
In his speech, head of Ataturk center in Azerbaijan, academician Nizami Jafarov highlighted the importance of remembering the great personalities of the Turkic world.
