Shusha is a historical and architectural monument of Azerbaijan. The Great Leader Heydar Aliyev stated how significant  Shusha is for Azerbaijan and said:  "...Shusha is a corner of Azerbaijan with the dearest and greatest history”. Those who created Shusha, built the city of Shusha, and the castle of Shusha were the owners of the land of Azerbaijan and built the city and castle of Shusha for the constant protection and maintenance of the land of Azerbaijan in Karabakh. This is a great monument that  created by the people of Azerbaijan, our ancestors, not only a city, but a great historical monument."

In connection with the declaration of 2022 as the "Year of Shusha" by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the staff of the National Library prepared a virtual exhibition called "Shusha Jewellery".Shusha is rich in historical and cultural monuments that support the existence of our people, including handicrafts - jewellery, which are part of it.

Jewellery was one of the more smoothly developed art fields in Shusha, starting from the 18th century.At the beginning of the 20th century, this art has reached the highest peak in its development. At that time, the jewellery molding method was more widespread in Shusha. Shusha jewellers preferred to make various products from high-grade gold and silver. Shusha jewellers have introduced Azerbaijan to foreign countries with their beautiful handicrafts.

In the presented virtual exhibition, the samples of jewellery made by the craftsmen of Shusha, the cultural center of Azerbaijan, their classification, information about them, visual images and a brief history were reflected.
