On September 30, in the National Library there was held the donation ceremony of books to the Azerbaijan National Library which had been demonstrated by the National Libraries of the foreign countries in the exhibition. The event was attended by the directors general and the employees of the National Libraries of Turkey, Great Britain, Egypt, Russia, Malaysia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and UCLA.

Opening the event, director of the Azerbaijan National Library professor Karim Tahirov welcomed the attendees of the event, and expressed his gratitude once again to those who accepted the invitation of the National Library. He noted that the conference held within the framework of the international book fair had been organized very well, thanked to all speakers, and spoke about the importance of organizing such events. Along with sharing experiences among the colleagues, he also mentioned the advantages of donating books to the Azerbaijan National Library that demonstrated in the exhibition by the national libraries, and he also noted that it is a great contribution to researchers.

In their speeches, Director of the National Library of Turkey – Zulfi Toman, Director General of the National Library of Malaysia – Nafisah Binti Ahmad, Director General of the National Library of Moldova – Elena Pintilei, Director of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Ismet Ovcina, Turkish and Turkic Collections Curator of the British Library – Michael Erdman, the librarian for Middle Eastern, South Asian, Central Asian, Caucasus and Islamic studies of UCLA – David Hirsch, Chairman of the National Library and Archives of Egypt – Ahmad Al Shoky, Head of the Publishing and poligraphy services of the National Library of Uzbekistan – Farrukh Musayev, Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus – Tatjana Kuzminich expressed their gratitude both to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Azerbaijan National Library for the invitation.

Ludmila Shustrova, representative of the International Union of Booklovers in Moscow donated more than 20 copies of books to the Azerbaijan National Library that demonstrated in the exhibition at her own initiative and don’t exist in the fund of the Azerbaijan National Library.
