On November 23, the presentation ceremony of “Selected works” book of the Spanish writer Miguel Delibes published by the Translation Centre was held at the National Library by the organization of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Translation Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers, Embassy of the Spanish Kingdom in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan National Library.

Opening the event, director of the Translation Centre Afag Masud greeted the participants of the event. Mrs. Afag spoke about the work done in the field of promotion of Azerbaijani and world literature. She also talked about the “Selected works” by the Spanish writer Miguel Delibes, and noted that the work had been translated into Azerbaijani by writer-translator Saday Budagli, and the editor of the book was Mahir Garayev.

In his speech director of the National Library professor Karim Tahirov highly appreciated the activities done by the Translation Centre, and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the readers for the translation of the book.

Speakers - Charge d’Affaires of the Spanish Embassy Mr. Jose Luis Diez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentine to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Carlos Dante Riva, Secretary of Azerbaijan Writers’ Union Rashad Majid, Head of the Spanish language Chair of the Azerbaijan University of Languages Aynur Guliyeva spoke of the Spanish literature, and the works translated into Azerbaijani.

In the end, writer-translator Saday Budagli noted that the book was about the problems in Castile village, the realities of Franco regime, and the impact of that regime in human psychology.

“Selected works” book by Miguel Delibes were distributed to the participants of the event.
