On November 28, the opening ceremony of the exhibition dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the creative career of TofigBakikhanov, remarkable composer and the People’s artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held at the National Library. The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Library.
Director of the National Library prof.KarimTahirov welcomed the guests and gave detailed information about the life and work of the outstanding composer. In his speech, prof.Karim Tahirov noted that Tofig Bakikhanov had an invaluable contribution to the devlopment of the Azerbaijan music culture and the training of national musicians. Along with the symphonic mugamas "Nava", "Humayun", "Rahab", "Shahnaz" and "Dugah", he has given innumerable pearls to Azerbaijani music and art anad these works will always live in the history of our musical culture. Prof.Karim Tahirov also said that the richest archive in the National Library belongs to Tofig Bakikhanov.
Speaking about the rich music heritage of the composer, professor of Baku Music Academy TelmanHajiyev said that TofigBakikhanov is one of the first solo violinists in Azerbaijan. His works were performed many times in a number of countries, especially the Caspian ballad has been played in France repeatedly.
Then, Secretary of the Azerbaijan Composers’ Union, Honored art worker prof.Zemfira Gurbanova, writer and script writer Rafiga Masud, Haji Rafig Aliyev, Honored cultural worker Alakbar Agasiyev, Honored journalist Ittifag Mirzabayli, employee of the national library Adila Gojayeva and the researcher of “The Bakikhanovs” family tree Khayala Ayrichalmali made speeches about the rich literary heritage of the outstanding composer.
In conclusion, the great composer, People’s artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan TofigBakikhanov expressed his deep gratitude to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to the staff of the National Library for the organization of the event and book exhibition dedicated to the 65th anniversary of his birth.
