Every year in Azerbaijan, May 9 is celebrated as Victory over Fascism Day. Because during the years of the Great Patriotic War, our people showed great examples of heroism and bravery both on the front and rear fronts. During the war, more than 600,000 brave sons and daughters of Azerbaijan went to the front, and Azerbaijani divisions marched through the glorious battle path from the Caucasus to Berlin. More than 170,000 Azerbaijanis were awarded orders and medals, and 130 compatriots were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. If Azerbaijani oil had not been sent to the front at that time, this war could not have ended with victory.

Now in Azerbaijan in 1941-45, the honorable war path of people who showed great bravery and heroism has become an important factor in the ideological-spiritual and military patriotism education of the young generation. The names of the brave sons and daughters, whose incomparable skills they showed for the sake of the salvation of humanity, were eternally written in the annals of heroism, to whom we owe our lives today, call us, the people living today, not to forget our duty to the Motherland.

On this occasion, a virtual exhibition called "May 9 - Victory over Fascism Day" was prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan.
