On September 21, the 27th annual meeting of the Assembly of Eurasian Libraries (AEL), as well as the continuation and closing ceremony of the International Scientific-Practical Conference on "National libraries are the guardians of the moral memory of peoples" took place in the Azerbaijan National Library on the occasion of the library's 100th anniversary.

Opening the 27th annual meeting of the Eurasian Library Assembly (UAE), the director general of the Russian State Library, the president of the UAE Vadim Duda, wished success to the work of the meeting, the director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, prof. It was given to Karim Tahirov. The speaker welcomed the guests and drew attention to the importance of joint action in the direction of protecting the national and cultural heritage of the nations.

First, the authority of the meeting was approved and the issues on the agenda were brought to attention. The size of admission and annual membership fees has been approved.

Then, Director of the National Library of Uzbekistan, Vice-President of the UAE Teshabayeva Umida Alimjanovna gave a report on "Interconnection of libraries in the border areas of Central Asian countries".

One of the main issues on the agenda is the professional events of the libraries participating in the UAE in the second half of 2023, which were discussed by Vadim Frantsevich Gigin, director of the National Library of Belarus, Yuriy Stanislavovich Nosov, director general of the Presidential Library named after B.N. Yeltsin, Tensina Tatyana Vladimirovna, director of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic. and Director General of the National Library of Russia Vladimir Gennadyevich Gronsky spoke.

The second issue was the preparation and implementation of projects and events within the framework of the celebration of the 225th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin in 2024. In this direction, the Director General of the Russian State Library, the President of the BAE, Vadim Duda, and the Director General of the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino Pavel Leonidovich Kuzmin made a speech and made suggestions.

The plan of UAE events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (2025) Yuriy Stanislavovich Nosov, director general of the Presidential Library named after B.N. Yeltsin, Pavel Leonidovich Kuzmin, director general of the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. In general, cultural policy, formation, preservation, restoration of library funds, digital bibliography, modernization of libraries, experience exchange, professional development, children's literature, work with children, etc. were discussed at the meeting. such issues were discussed.

Later, the Russian State Art Library was accepted as a new member of BAE, elections of the general director of BAE were held from September 2023 to September 2027. According to the vote, Irina Vladimirovna Gaishun, the head of the International Department of the State Library of Russia, deputy director of the Partnership Programs Department, was elected the general director.

At the end of the meeting, the director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, prof. Karim Tahirov made a speech and expressed his attitude to the issues discussed at the meeting, and noted that the National Library of Azerbaijan will actively participate in the planned projects, as well as his interesting proposals.
