On August 12, 1998, at an international conference held in Lisbon with the participation of youth ministers, it was decided to celebrate August 12 as Youth Day in the world every year.

The youth of every nation and state are its hope both today and tomorrow. Our Great Leader Heydar Aliyev repeatedly stated that the future of Azerbaijan is in the hands of our youth. One of the greatest services of the Great Leader was that he always considered issues related to youth as one of the main components of his policy, highly valued the opportunities and abilities of young people, attached special importance to the measures implemented in the direction of solving their problems, and valued this policy as one of the most important activities of the independent state of Azerbaijan.

Today, youth policy in our country is experiencing a new phase in terms of substance and quality. President Ilham Aliyev confirms the Great Leader's commitment to youth policy with his decisions. The spiritual development of young people, patriotism education, education in foreign countries, the work done in the direction of solving the problems of those in need of social protection, the conditions and opportunities created for the formation and development of youth organizations are the result of great attention to this field.

On the occasion of the International Youth Day, a virtual exhibition called "August 12 - International Youth Day" was prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan.

In the virtual exhibition, the views of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, regarding the youth of Azerbaijan, official documents, photos, articles and books on the subject are displayed.
