According to the ceasefire statement signed on November 10, 2020, the Armenian Armed Forces vacated the Lachin region and handed it over to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on December 1.

Lachin is located in mountainous terrain, in the south-west of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It borders with Kalbajar in the north, Khojaly, Shusha and Khojavand in the east, Gubadli in the south and the Republic of Armenia in the west.

On the occasion of the liberation of Lachin region from the occupation, the staff of Azerbaijan National Library has prepared a virtual exhibition entitled “Lachin was liberated from occupation”. The virtual exhibition features books, articles and photos about the history of Lachin and its natural resources.
