As a result of the military aggression of Armenia, our ancient historical lands, which were under occupation for nearly 30 years, were freed from military and political occupation in the 44-day Patriotic War, and every day leading to the glorious Victory was written in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijan.

On July 31, 2023, in order to perpetuate the historical victory achieved in the Patriotic War and to establish the days of liberated cities, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, signed an order and instructed to solemnly celebrate the days of cities in liberated territories every year. According to the order, "August 26 – Lachin city day" was declared.

On this occasion, the staff of the National Library of Azerbaijan prepared a virtual and traditional exhibition called "August 26 - Lachin City Day".

In the virtual exhibition, official documents, photos, books and articles in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English languages ​​are presented, and in the traditional exhibition, there are books, articles, etc., about the city of Lachin, as well as books, articles, etc. preserved in the collection of the National Library, which reflect the Patriotic War and the Great Victory. materials are displayed.
