This year marks the 140th anniversary of Huseyn Javid, a prominent Azerbaijani poet, writer and dramatist, the main representative of the romantic literary trend in our literature.

Huseyn Javid has started a new stage in our literature with his creativity that indicates deep philosophical and aesthetic content. The poet's lyrical works, verse tragedies and historical dramas, which express his search for the spiritual life of humanity on the basis of the world romantic traditions, occupy a worthy place in the rich artistic treasury of our people, like precious pearls of words.

The main ideological direction of Huseyn Javid's exemplary life and creativity is the romanticism of the 20th century Azerbaijan literature that  is a legitimate and significant event that stands out with its voice and breath in the complex, multifaceted and rich course of the 20th century, and it retains its meaning and importance even today. For the first time, Javid brought genres such as sonnet, march, oriental-Turkish to Azerbaijani poetry. Javid's dramaturgy played an important role in the high achievements of theater culture in our country.

With such dramas as "Sheikh Sanan", "Iblis", "Topal Teymur", "Prophet", "Khayyam", the poem "Azer", a whole series of lyrical-philosophical poems, Huseyn Javid forever engraved his name on the golden pages of Azerbaijani literature. Huseyn Javid, with his ingenious works, greatly enriched the Azerbaijani dramaturgy in terms of themes, character and image gallery, as well as chronotope, took our dramaturgy out of the narrow local space into the global space, and raised it to the world level by promoting universal ideas.

In accordance with the Ministry of Culture's plan of events in connection with the 140th anniversary of the prominent Azerbaijani dramatist Huseyn Javid, the National Library staff prepared an electronic database called "Noble of words and ideas of Azerbaijani literature - Huseyn Javid".

Electronic database consists of sections such as  "Official documents"; "Life and work"; "The main dates of his life and activity; "Bringing the body of Huseyn Javid to Azerbaijan"; "About Huseyn Javid"; "Works"; "About"; "Perpetuating his memory" and "Photo gallery".
