This year marks the 140th anniversary of Huseyn Javid, a prominent Azerbaijani poet, writer and dramatist, the main representative of the romantic literary trend in our literature.

Huseyn Javid, the founder of national romantic poetry and verse tragedy, one of the greatest personalities of the Azerbaijani people in the 20th century, philosopher-poet and talented dramatist, played a great role in the history of public opinion.

 The legacy of Huseyn Javid, who atracted the attention of the national literary and social opinion to his creativity through his original art, after being innocently repressed, although it was banned for a while, for the sake of true patriotic intellectuals, it was propagated whenever possible, albeit verbally. Like all great classics, Huseyn Javid has stood the test of time and received the acquittal he deserved.

A great thinker who loved his nation, his people, and his national values more than his life, he fought for the truth throughout his life, and wrote to see his people and nation happy. According to the poet, this happiness is possible with high education and culture. To do this, to live freely and to have own state is the main condition.

Huseyn Javid, who created unique examples of philosophical lyrics in our national poetry, created a new stage in Azerbaijani drama with his verse tragedies and historical dramas. His work is closely related to the history of Eastern aesthetic ideas and world romantic traditions.

The rich legacy of the genius artist includes the series of poems "Past Days", "Spring Dews", poems "Azer", "Kor Neyzan", "Mother", "Deer", "Sheikh Sanan", "Iblis", "Sheyda", "Abyss", "Afet", "Prophet", "Topal Teymur", "Knyaz", "Sayavush", "Khayyam", "Devil's Revenge" dramas, articles and letters reflecting his literary, scientific and social views. His works "Atilla" (Gözel Eyida), "Chingiz", "Iblisin ilhami", "Telli saz", "Shahla", "Koroglu" were confiscated.
