In November 2022, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fikret Amirov, a prominent composer, well-known public figure, People's Artist of the USSR and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of State awards of the USSR and the Republic of Azerbaijan, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Azerbaijan, will be completed. Fikret Amirov, the great representative of the Azerbaijani school of composition, the founder of the symphonic mugham genre, as a powerful artist with a colorful creative palette, has given unparalleled contributions to our treasury of cultural resources. Drawing his strength from his native land, the composer connected to the national ground successfully combined the wonderful folk music and mugham traditions with modern musical techniques and created several valuable operas, ballets, symphonies, songs, romances and chamber-instrumental works. The national spirit, philosophical-psychological depth and melodic beauty prevail in these various genre art samples, which are reflected with all the delicacy of the lyrical-romantic colors typical of Fikret Amirov's style. Those works were successfully performed by famous orchestras in prestigious concert halls in several countries of the world and brought fame to the author in a wide geographical area.
