On December 27, the chairman of the Dubai City Library Foundation of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammad Ahmed Almur, visited the National Library.
Director of the National Library Professor Karim Tahirov received the guest and said that he was glad to see him in the library. The director gave general information about the library to the guest and gave extensive information about the National Library's fund, the number of readers, the automation processes implemented in the library, the online services of the National Library during the pandemic, as well as international projects. Speaking about the international relations of the library, he said that the National Library of Azerbaijan cooperates with more than 60 libraries of the world. During the conversation, the director proposed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the libraries of the two countries in the future.
During the conversation, Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Almur also expressed his satisfaction with being in the National Library and noted that he plans to carry out international book exchange with the National Library of Azerbaijan in the future. The guest highly appreciated the automation processes and online services implemented in the library.
At the end of the meeting, prof. Karim Tahirov presented to the guest the "Azerbaijan National Library" photo album, Mir Jalal Pashayev's "Romanticism in Literature" published by the National Library in Arabic, Yevgeny Bertels' "Great Azerbaijani poet Nizami", Elchin Ahmadov's "Shusha - the historical and strategically important cultural capital of Azerbaijan", "Karabakh" by the roads of victory" books and a map of Azerbaijan.
In the end, the guest got to know the National Library. He got acquainted with the "Heydar Aliyev Corner", "Hall of International Cooperation", "Children's Section", "Rare Books and Library Museum", "Sheet Music Publications and Recordings" departments of the library. In the sheet music publications and recordings department, he especially appreciated the creation of the electronic music database, the transfer of gramophone records stored in the fund to DVD discs using new equipment, as well as the re-publishing of sheet music collections printed in the 70s and 80s by the National Library.
