Academician Teymur Hashim oglu Karimli was born on October 2, 1953 in Nurgud village of Ordubad district of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In 1970, he graduated from high school with honoured degree, and in 1975, he graduated from the philology faculty of the current Baku State University with an honors diploma. In the same year, he started working as a teacher in a secondary school in Kalbajar district. In 1977-1980, he studied at the post-graduate course of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami of ANAS, in 1983 he wrote a candidate's dissertation on "Romantic perception of history in Nizami (on the poem "Seven Beauties")", in 2004 "The idea of historical personality and historical event in Nizami's work" -as a context and helper of aesthetic rock" defended his doctoral dissertation.
Teymur Karimli worked at the Institute of Literature named after ANAS Nizami for more than thirty years. For many years, he headed the "Medieval Azerbaijani literature" department of the Institute. Since 2002, he worked as the deputy director for scientific affairs of the Institute of Literature (acting director of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami in 2002-2003 and 2012-2013).
Teymur Karimli's books "Regulation and History", "The Invisible Fuzuli", "Academician Akif Alizadeh: Harmony of Talent and Energy", "The End of the Beautiful", "From the Gate of the East to the World", "The Life of Hijran", "Academician Ahmed Mahmudov", he is also the author of the "Literature" textbook for classes and more than a hundred scientific articles.
From 2014 to the present period, ANAS has been working as the director of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli.
On the occasion of the anniversary, a virtual exhibition called "Academic Teymur Karimli" was prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan.
The virtual exhibition displays photos, books and articles authored by Teymur Karimli, as well as translated and edited books.
