This year marks the 120th anniversary of academician Firuz Ali oglu Malikov, one of the outstanding figures who rendered exceptional services in the formation and development of the scientific thought of Azerbaijan in the 20th century, and in the social and political life of our nation.

Academician Firuz Malikov entered our scientific history as the founder of Azerbaijan animal husbandry science, the founder of the Azerbaijani school of animal husbandry science. Each of his works are the cornerstones, pillars, and pillars of that science and scientific school.

There is a term "Malikov methodology" accepted by the international scientific community in the last century. This term is a scientific program of sheep farming, which is one of the main areas of animal husbandry science, and the creation of new breeds of sheep. Even today, that methodology is used as a scientific law in scientific research.

Academician Firuz Malikov was not only a great scientist, but also a well-known social and political figure. He was repeatedly elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR. During his activity, he devoted his life to the progress and prosperity of his people, his nation, and the development of our science.

In 1941-1945, Academician Firuz Malikov conducted eleven scientific researches related to solving the most pressing problems of animal husbandry. A lot of success was achieved. The reason for this was that the eminent scientist had prepared the scientific system, the scheme that forms the basis of the experiments and research works in the direction of creating productive breeds, herds, and laid a certain scientific foundation. The results obtained in the research works "Twice shearing of Balbas and Shirvan sheep", "Shearing of sheep that give a lot of offspring in Azerbaijan", "Stakhanov farmers of blackberry farming in Azerbaijan" made it possible to produce more than 100 tons of wool in addition to all plans and tasks at that time. The breeding ability of herds was raised from 23 percent to 45 percent.

Thus, the creation of the scientific basis of advanced animal husbandry work, the further development of animal husbandry practice on this basis led to raising the productivity of the field to the highest level during the war, at a time when it was urgently needed.
