The employee of Roman Collections and Graphic Department of the National Library of Italy Mrs. Paola Puglisi had been at the Azerbaijan National Library within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Italy and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Azerbaijan Republic - EU Twinning Project “Support to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the modernization of its policy and management system in the culture sector”. Director of the National Library professor Karim Tahirov received the guest.

The main purpose of the meeting was to define the legal basis of management of libraries.

After familiarizing with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the Library work” Mrs. Puglisi was interested in the Article 15 of that Law: provision of libraries with free mandatory copies, compilation of the national bibliography, e-catalog of the National Library, description of literature on Cyrillic and Latin scripts in the catalog, protection and organization of use of dissertations, protection and preservation of book fund, digitalization of the ancient literature and rare copies, financing ways of the National Library and etc.

Karim Tahirov answered the questions of the guest.

Then Mrs. Paola Puglisi became closely acquainted with the library, the automation processes implemented in the library, and the e-catalog.

“Azerbaijan National Library” Photo Album (in Azerbaijani, Russian and in English), “Azerbaijani cuisine” (in English), a map of the cultural objects, “Azerbaijani carpets in the world collections” (in Azerbaijani and in English) books were presented to the guest.
