June 26 is the Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. According to the decision of the President of Azerbaijan dated May 22, 1998, June 26 was declared Armed Forces Day.

The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which was established on May 28, 1918, has done a lot of great things in the country despite its existence for only 23 months. One of these works is the measures taken in the field of army building.

By the decision of the government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, on June 26, 1918, the first military unit - separate corps was created. This decision gave the legal basis for the first democratic government in the Muslim world of the East to create its own army. After that, the government issued a decree on military conscription in the country. In a short period of time, substantial results were achieved in the construction of the national army in Azerbaijan.
