This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Turan Javid.
Turan Javid was born on October 2, 1923 in the family of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Huseyn Javid.
In 1945-1950, Turan Javid studied at the Faculty of Theater Studies of the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute (currently the University of Culture and Arts), was retained as a teacher at that institute, and lectured on "Theatre History of Azerbaijan" in 1950-1983. In 1968, he worked as a researcher at the Azerbaijan State Theater Museum named after J. Jabbarli, and in 1968-1991, he worked as a director. From 1991 until the end of his life, he worked as the director of Huseyn Javid's house-museum in Baku.
He took on the great mission of preserving the legacy of the immortal poet and passing it on to future generations, perpetuating the memory of the Javid family, and fulfilled this task with honor. Turan Javid fulfilled his filial duty as the founder of the writer's house museum and the publisher of his works. He was able to leave a valuable legacy to the Azerbaijani people by preparing the last perfect edition of Javid's immortal works, which enriched the Azerbaijani literature, and handing over the items and documents belonging to Javid and his family to the home museum. On the eve of Mrs. Huseyn Javid's 120th anniversary, Turan worked hard to publish H. Javid's works in Latin script in his style.
Turan Javid was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Worker of Culture", "For Meritorious Work" medal, "Decree of Honor" of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and became an individual scholarship holder of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Turan Javid died on September 12, 2004 and was buried in the mausoleum where the Javids sleep in Nakhchivan.
