On June 4, Director of the National Library, Professor Karim Tahirov, attended an online press conference on book heritage and the development of international library cooperation at the invitation of the National Library of Russia and the “TASS” news agency.

The conference was attended by Director General of the National Library of Russia Alexander Pavlovich Vershin, Director of the Azerbaijan National Library Karim Tahirov, Director of the Central Library of Brest named after A.S.Pushkin Svetlana Gorodeskaya and the Executive Secretary of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Pshenko Konstantin Andreyevich.

The online press conference featured presentations on bookexchange between libraries, the preservation of book heritage, as well as the services provided by libraries online during the coronavirus pandemic. Director of the National Library Karim Tahirov spoke about the mutual book exchange between the National Library of Azerbaijan and the National Library of Russia, the project on the electronization of Azerbaijani classics’manuscripts preserved in the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts and the National Library in St.Petersburg and bringing themto Azerbaijan, as well as the activties of the Azerbaijan National Library during the coronirus pandemic. The Director's speech was supported by his colleagues, and the participants of the conference highly appreciated the activities of the Azerbaijan National Library in the field of online services during the pandemic. At the end of the conference K.Tahirov answered the questions of the conference participants on this topic.
