On October 24, Irek Zinnurov, the head of the representative office of "Rossotrudnichestvo", the Federal Agency of Russia for work with CIS countries and compatriots living abroad, was a guest of the National Library.

Director of the library prof. Karim Tahirov welcomed the guest and said that there are always cultural relations between the two neighboring countries and these close friendship relations are continued at a high level even today.

Irek Zinnurov noted the possibility of joint actions and organization of various events with the National Library, as well as the director's call to support the book collection campaign "Let's go to Karabakh with a book" for foreign guests at the round table "Libraries in the modern age: a vision of the future”, held at the National Library within the framework of the 8th Baku International Book Fair, stressed that they are ready to join, especially that they can donate popular Russian literature to the Karabakh Foundation.

Prof. Karim Tahirov pointed out that there were certain problems in buying new Russian books due to the pandemic in the last 2 years, but he always maintained close relations with the leading libraries of Russia that last year a memorandum of cooperation was signed with the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M. I. Rudomino, and a meeting of Russian writers and schoolchildren was organized in the library, which has a sufficient Russian-speaking readership, he met with the directors of the Russian State Library and the Russian Presidential Library in Belarus this year,a joint dialogue between the Russian State Library and Russian-Azerbaijani librarians will take place at the end of the year, and the term of the memorandum on cooperation between the two libraries will be extended.

The director also said that they will visit the library of the representative office in order to familiarize themselves with the importance of cooperation for the development and expansion of joint relations, the importance of having a memorandum for this.

Irek Zinnurov invited Prof. Karim Tahirov to the events organized by the representative office in our country, said that they can support all the projects of the library with books, help to establish relations with Russian publishers and authors, and thanked for the reception.

Then, by the director of the National Library prof. Karim Tahirov, books about the National Library in 3 languages (Azerbaijani, English and Russian) called "Azerbaijan National Library - Photo Album", "Carpets of Azerbaijan in world collections", "Dreams of an ancient castle", "Gobustan - book of millennia" and a map showing the historical and cultural monuments of Azerbaijan was presented  to the guest and a commemorative photo was taken.
