On May 18, at the National Library,  an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of librarian-scientist Rasim Kazimov, the presentation ceremony of the traditional book exhibition "Rasim Kazimov - 90" and the Electronic database named "Librarian-scientist Rasim Kazimov" was held under the joint organization of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Library. Director of the National Library Professor Karim Tahirov opened the event and greeted the guests. He said that today we have gathered for a very significant event - in the light of Rasim Kazimov, one of the prominent representatives of national librarianship, library-bibliography field, well-known library theorist, scientist and pedagogue. Today marks the 90th anniversary of Rasim Kazimov.

Rasim Kazimov was the most prominent scholar in the field of library science after Abuzar Khalafov, who is considered the patriarch of Azerbaijani library science. The director emphasized that he is very proud that Rasim Kazimov started his career in the National Library. Later, he was appointed director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS. Finally, the director noted that R. Kazimov's soul is happy, because today his family, students, and relatives commemorate his dear memory. No matter how many decades have passed, young librarians will benefit from the books written by Mr. Rasim and will refer to him.

During the event, the Electronic database named "Librarian-scientist Rasim Kazimov" (http://anl.az/el/emb/R.Kazimov/index.html) prepared by the National Library was presented to the participants. It was reported that the electronic database consists of sections such as "A short essay on the life, scientific-pedagogical and organizational activity of Rasim Ahmad oglu Kazimov"; "Main dates of life and activities"; " Thoughts of Prominent persons about Rasim Kazimov"; "Works"; "Photo gallery" .

Then Khalil Ismayilov, professor of the "Library resources and information search systems" department of BSU, gave a speech and talked about his memories of the scientist - his turbulent life, humanitarianism, care for his students. And he expressed his gratitude to the National Library and Mr. Karim personally for organizing such an event. The dean of the library and information department of BSU, PhD in philology, docent Alamdar Jabbarli talked about the services of the outstanding scientist Rasim Kazimov in the field of library work and mentioned that he approached library science from a philosophical point of view in his works. This was due to his upbringing in an intellectual family. He said that A. Jabbarli, talking about his memories of teacher Rasim, said that he always recited Samad Mansur's poem "Everything is a color". At the end of his speech, A. Jabbarli presented a part of that poem to the participants.

Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS, professor Mammad Aliyev, made a speech and noted that today we are proud to announce that Rasim Kazimov has worked as the director of the Central Scientific Library. He emphasized that Rasim Kazimov is always remembered with the most beautiful words. He noted that the library as a whole, the field of librarianship is a part of a multicultural society. He expressed his gratitude to the National Library and its management for appreciating outstanding figures working in this field, holding such events, as well as the value attached to the culture and science of Azerbaijan as a whole. At the end of his speech, M. Aliyev informed the participants that a round table discussion about the outstanding scientist Rasim Kazimov will be held at the Central Scientific Library on May 24.

In the continuation of the event, head of the Department of Bibliography of BSU, PhD in pedagogy, Docent Nadir Ismayilov; Shahla Gambarova, director of the Republican Children's Library named after Firidun Bey Kocherli; Head of the Department of Library Science of BSU, PhD in Pedagogy, Docent Elchin Ahmadov;Nigar Ismayilova, director of BSU Scientific Library; Zahira Dadashova, Deputy of the Republican Children's Library named after Firidun Bey Kocherli, "Honored Cultural Worker" and others spoke about Rasim Kazimov's scientific and pedagogical activity.

Then, on behalf of the family members, Leyla khanum Ibrahimova, the daughter of Rasim Kazimov, the head of department of the Republican Children's Library named after Firidun Bey Kocherli, spoke about her dear memories of her father. And she expressed her gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.

At the end, the participants got acquainted with the traditional book exhibition covering the life and creativity of Rasim Kazimov, preserved in the National Library's fund.
