Corresponding member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philological Sciences, literary historian, critic and publicist, professor Tehran Alishanoglu Mustafayev (Tehran Alishanoglu) - was born on January 16, 1960 in Baku. In 1978-1983, he graduated from the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (now BSU). In 1985-1989, he studied at the postgraduate course of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
He defended his candidate's dissertations on the topic "Styles of Azerbaijani Soviet Literary Criticism (1960-1980s)" (1990), and his doctoral dissertations on the topic "Poetics of Azerbaijani Prose of the 20th Century" (2005).
Tehran Alishanoglu's research object is mainly Azerbaijani literature of the 20th century and Azerbaijani literature of the period of Independence, scientific-theoretical and critical problems. "Prose Born of the Century: The Formation Poetics of 20th Century Azerbaijani Prose" (1999), "Azerbaijani Prose in the Sphere of Socialist Realism: Context Poetics" (1999) and "Azerbaijani "New Prose": From the Prose Poetics of the Century" (1999), "Poetics of 20th Century Azerbaijani Prose" (2006), "Years of Independence Azerbaijani Literature" in 2 volumes (2016) and other fundamental works, hundreds of literary-critical and journalistic articles.
A book exhibition entitled "Professor Tehran Alisanoglu" was presented to users at the National Library on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the literary critic, prominent representative of our contemporary literary criticism.
The exhibition features the works of critic and publicist, Professor Tehran Alishanoglu, books for which he wrote forewords, gave reviews and edited, literature about his scientific activities and creativity, and articles published in periodicals.
The exhibition will last for a week.
