Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov appointed to our country on August 1, member of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mahmudjan Tohirov, People's Poet of Uzbekistan, Salim Ashurov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Uzbekistan Literature and Art", writer Khondamir Qadiri, member of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan Bahadur Kerimov and Jamshidbek Niyazbekov, Head of the Department of Cultural Activity Development of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited the National Library of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the director of the National Library, professor Karim Tahirov, greeted the guests and emphasized that he was pleased to see them in the library. Then the director informed the guests about the National Library of Azerbaijan. Karim Tahirov spoke about the activities of the National Library of Azerbaijan and the measures implemented within the framework of mutual cooperation with the National Library of Uzbekistan. He informed the delegation about the Uzbek literature available in the library fund and the permanent corner created in the National Library for Uzbek literature.
The ambassador noted that he was in the National Library of Azerbaijan for the first time and said that he felt good about being here. He said that friendly relations between the two brotherly countries continue in the field of culture and literature. The ambassador brought to the director's attention that the works of Azerbaijani writers will be translated into Uzbek and an event called "Azerbaijani culture days" will be held in Uzbekistan. Bahrom Ashrafkhanov told the director that ANAS N. Ganjavi Institute of Literature, BSU, ASU and a number of organizations have projects, that classics of Uzbek literature and examples of modern Uzbek literature are translated into Azerbaijani. He expressed that he is glad that the "Days of Uzbek culture in Azerbaijan" will be held in the National Library of Azerbaijan.
The ambassador expressed his views on the recognition of the culture of the two countries on the basis of the projects to be carried out within the framework of mutual cooperation.
The guests were introduced to the "Heydar Aliyev Corner" and "Hall of International Cooperation" located in the Library, and were informed about the library's fund.
