This year marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani poet, the founder of a new literary school in the history of our artistic and social thought, prominent scholar Mirza Alakbar Sabir.
Mirza Alakbar Sabir is the most prominent representative of satirical poetry, which has a centuries-old tradition in Azerbaijani literature. Mirza Alakbar Sabir, widely known as one of the main creators of critical realism in national literature, is one of the most selfless heralds of humanism and democratic ideas, national awakening and revival in artistic thought. He is known as the founder of the Mollanasraddinchi school of satirical poetry, a powerful representative of satirical poetry in the Turkic-Muslim world.
Mirza Alakbar Sabir, along with keeping alive the bright traditions of our centuries-old poetry, he has gained wide fame as a master of words who raised our literature to a new level in terms of quality and enriched it even more in terms of social ideology. The main theme of the works created by the highly talented poet, who is one of the leading figures of the literary trend formed around the journal "Molla Nasreddin", was a call to spiritual purity, cultural advancement and enlightenment.
In accordance with the plan of events of the Ministry of Culture in connection with the 160th anniversary of the outstanding representative of Azerbaijani literature Mirza Alakbar Sabir, the staff of the National Library prepared a virtual exhibition called "Mirza Alakbar Sabir - 160". In the virtual exhibition, photos about Mirza Alakbar Sabir, books authored by him, as well as books written about him and articles published in periodicals are displayed.
