June 26 is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. In our modern times, drug addiction, which is a great problem for humanity, is widespread all over the world. In order to constantly keep the problems related to drug abuse under the control of the public, the UN declared June 26 as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and drug addiction is one of the main problems that concern the world today. At the same time, illegal drug trafficking, which leads to an increase in crime, is one of the most serious threats to international security, being a source of funding for terrorism. In this regard, the countries of the world are further improving the methods of combating drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking, as well as increasing their efforts in the field of applying the appropriate control system at the international level.

One of the main directions of activity of the state of Azerbaijan is to create a legislative base that regulates legal issues in the field of the fight against drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking in the country and adapting this base to changing conditions and requirements.
