According to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stipulated June 18, 2007, June 18 is commemorated as Human Rights Day in our country. The human rights factor was the basis of the activity of the national leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev. The great leader has always emphasized the need to protect fundamental human rights and freedoms as a prerequisite for the process of civilized, secular state-building, and the importance of creating conditions for it.

The provisions arising from the "Constitutional Act on State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan" adopted by the independent Republic of Azerbaijan on October 18, 1991, which took confident and decisive steps in building a legal, democratic and civil society state, were adopted in 1995 under the leadership of our national leader Heydar Aliyev. It was the main principle of our first national Constitution, which declared the provision of human rights and freedoms as the supreme goal of the state.

On the occasion of the National Human Rights Day, a virtual exhibition called "June 18 - National Human Rights Day" was prepared by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan. Official documents, photos, books and articles related to the topic are displayed in the virtual exhibition.
