Honored Scientist, Professor Nizamuddin Shamsizade was born on December 30, 1954, in the ancient Turkish village of Ispik in the Quba region. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Azerbaijan State University in 1977. In 1982, he defended his candidate dissertation, and in 1990, his doctoral dissertation.

Professor Shamsizade is the author of numerous works, including monographs such as "Literary Process-78" (1980), "Literary Debates" (1986), "Azerbaijani Ideology" (1996), "Azerbaijani Literary Studies" (1997), "In the Stream of Turkish Thought" (1998), "Choked Laughter" (2002), "Ali Nazim" (2003), "The Role of Criticism in the Literary Process" (2004), "The Successor of a Great Generation" (2005), "Azerbaijanism" (2006), "Literary Process and Literary Generation" (2008), "Writer’s Overture" (2010), as well as collections of literary-critical essays and philosophical works. His "Selected Works" spans 3 volumes and includes over 250 literary-critical, scientific-theoretical, and philosophical-political essays.

Professor Nizamuddin Shamsizade is also the author of the first book on Azerbaijani nationalism—the theory of Azerbaijanism—and the fundamental textbook "Theory of Literature," which is still used in higher education institutions in the country.

More than 80 scientific articles have been published on his creative work, and Professor Sh.Veliyev's monographs "Azerbaijani Scholar" (2004), "Philosophical Critic" (2011), and "Nizamuddin Shamsizade: Bibliography" (2015) have also been published.

For his scientific contributions, he was awarded the academic Y. Mammadaliyev Prize in 2003. In 2010, by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, he was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of literature for his book "Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani Literature." On November 25, 2019, he was awarded the title of "Honored Scientist" by the President of Azerbaijan for his contributions to education and science, marking the 100th anniversary of Baku State University.

An exhibition titled "Honored Scientist, Professor Nizamuddin Shamsizade" has been presented to users at the National Library.

The exhibition features Professor Nizamuddin Shamsizade’s works, books he has reviewed, scientifically consulted, led projects for, and edited, as well as literature in Azerbaijani and foreign languages about his life, work, and creative activity. Articles published in the periodical press about him are also on display.
