The virtual exhibition "Elmira Suleymanova" was presented to users online in the National Library

Elmira Suleymanova, the first Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has significant services in strengthening the statehood of independent Azerbaijan, building a democratic society and protecting human rights.

The multifaceted activity and rich experience of this powerful woman can be a good example for anyone who wants to engage in social activities, especially for young people.

She is a well-known scientist, chemist, inventor, doctor of chemical sciences, professor, a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a prominent scientist and public figure in the field of petrochemicals and fine organic synthesis, she is known as the first Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the history of public opinion of the modern era.

In 1979, the scientist was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Chemist" of the USSR for her achievements in the development of chemical science and the training of highly qualified personnel, and "Inventor of the USSR" for her inventions applied in the perfumery, food, and paint industry. In 1997, she was awarded the prize named after Academician Y.H. Mammadaliyev and was awarded a medal for her services in the field of progress and integration of chemical science at the world level in Azerbaijan.

As the first Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, her large-scale activities in foreign countries have also earned her numerous awards. The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan was awarded the International Peace Prize by the United States Cultural Convention for her effective activities in the field of protection and implementation of human rights, for her services in the creation of human harmony, interreligious cooperation, international moral values, also she was awarded the honorary title of "Ambassador of Peace" by the Interreligious Peace Federation as one of the people who helped to strengthen the UN and create a culture of peace.

A virtual exhibition of the same name was prepared on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of Elmira Suleymanova by the employees of the National Library of Azerbaijan named after M.F. Akhundzade. Official documents, photos, books authored by Elmira Suleymanova, as well as books and articles written about her are displayed in the virtual exhibition.
